Patchouli essential oil is derived from pogostemon cablin. It is a tropical plant native to Asia, renowned for its numerous medicinal applications but now a days extensively cultivated in China, India, Malaysia as well. Patchouli is a perennial species that thrives in warm tropical climates.
It has been used since ancient times in Ayurvedic medicines in India and traditional China. In traditional medicine, patchouli is used for conditions such as nervousness, menstrual pain, joint pain and rheumatism. It has many chemical constituents but the main chemical content is patchouli alcohol (26-32%).
Method of Extraction :
It is distilled by steam distillation method of the leaves.
